Articles like this do something of a disservice: the article lists a few things, Subversion, Apache, MySQL, as if a checklist of implementations of a given technology are all that matter.

But success rarely derives from the use of any specific technology. Success rarely derives from the use of any specific implementation. Success derives from things like good engineering, good management, hiring good people. While checklists can comprise part of any of these, they're not the totality of any of them.
