Now that YDL is "no longer the darling Linux for Apple machines", Debian for Power processors is among the very top distros for Macs, as listed in the Penguin PPC.org Linux Distributions for PowerPC hardware, http://penguinppc.org/about/distributions.php .

Debian for New World Mac, Old World Mac, CHRP, PReP, Amiga APUS, ... etc.; http://www.debian.org/ports/powerpc/ and http://www.us.debian.org/ports/powerpc/inst/install Debian in both Stable and Testing versions, up-to-date with active development, nearly identical post-installation software as for i386 and other architectures

Two other supported Mac Linux distros for both 32-bit and 64-bit PowerPCs, besides Debian, are - Crux PPC GNU/Linux, http://cruxppc.org/ - Slackintosh, http://slackintosh.workaround.ch/

Debian remains among the top shining star distro for Macs as YDL isolates itself to Intel Core and Xeon processors, and as Fixstar becomes much less prominent in 32-bit and 64-bit PowerPC architectures.

I've had very good luck with Debian on my G4/466
