I've saved the following quote for 5 years. I read it, probably on wired.com, right when the Zune was coming out, and all the Wagg Ed shills and MS Fanbois predicted Zune would take over the world, just like Windows did:

That's Andy Ihnatko writing. Just like only Microsoft could introduce a "serious" operating system in 1994 without a network-transparent windowing system (NT), only Microsoft could produce something as apparently horrible as Zune and still see memorial service articles about it in the trade press.
