Last year when I wanted to make a couple of cheap videos, OpenShot was actively recommended by LXer folks.

I found it perfectly adequate to my needs, and would suggest it to anyone who wanted to do something quickly.

If I wanted to add a feature, it would be the ability to cut (pause, suspend, some word to that effect) the audio track, to be able to insert commentary or another track for a short while, and then resume right where it was left off.

It seems just to obvious not to already exist, but like I said my use was simple. And OpenShot worked.

I use OpenShot fairly regularly. It gets more stable all the time, and it's a great way to edit video without needing to learn a foreboding interface.
