Microsoft has left us in the lurch. They just don't care.

"So, are you going to migrate off Windows?"

No. We love Microsoft Windows.

"So, no real problem then?"

If it were a problem they'd have migrated years ago. It's not like this is the first time Microsoft has pulled this type of stunt.

I blame Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider Program. What's the point of having "millions of people around the world" helping to "shape the next evolution of Windows 10" if you don't listen to them?

This is where Linux has a huge advantage over Windows.

You'd have to ask the Gnome 3 team, the KDE 4 team, and the systemd team about that. They may be able to provide some answers.

Not listening to your users is a common failing, not one limited to Microsoft.

Linux gives you choices. It's not a one-size-fits-all operating system or desktop environment like Windows and Apple.

And in most incidences, when a security problem is discovered in Linux, users don't have to wait until the second Tuesday of next month for it to be patched. Linux patches are usually released even before the press has time to post the story.

Linux is also decentralized, as jdixon points out. There are multiple teams working on different aspects of the Linux experience, rather than one mega-corporation that has to answer to their board of directs and share holders.

When you take profit out of the equation, the only thing you are left with is a drive for excellence.
