Don't think I ever visited the linked site before, but when it gets to the part of "how to upgrade Edge browser" it caused me concern. When I clicked on the author link, it just starts shifting through various articles. Poor work.

For the browser, I checked Brave's site trying to figure out if it's open source. Still don't know.

shrug, I guess I'll pass on that too.

My impression is that Brave is a fork of the Firefox code with differing areas of stress. So the take away is: this is not a proprietary tool as is Edge, thus, safe to use for individuals that prefer Free (better described as Libra, i.e. not necessarily at no cost) / Open Source, which might not be either free or really open.

Brave is actually a fork of Chromium. From memory, they looked at the Firefox code, but the Chromium code was simply faster.

As for it being opensource, from https://brave.com/download-nightly/

"Brave is open source and always available to review on GitHub." I'll admit they don't make it easy to find.
