Newsforge Quality

Hmm...Are we seeing more quality from Newsforge here? From the article:

Quoting: rallying around the OASIS committee and its recommended formats (originally developed by the project). OASIS members already include Corel, KDE, and many other respected groups.

Seems to make the whole article rather pointless. Have I missed the point? I would think that if you are a member of a standards committee you would be agreeing to implement that standard. Where, therefore, does this open letter come into things? I think I know what the purpose is, but I didn't think Newsforge quality had sunk as low as to become pure propogandists. It was this kind of writing dominating that stopped me reading Newsforge anyway (after their appalling dump of a great format, and M$ ads.).
