There is a good write-up over at the Enquirer about the plight of the Itanium. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16868 I do not dislike Intel but we need a strong contender and you got to admire AMD for there sheer doggedness.

I hope iAMD64 catches on as a way to describe the 64 bit instruction set rather than the clunky Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology moniker they conjured up. It must gall Intel to see the little i in front of the AMD
