Fix GNOME Shell To Work With User-Theme Extension

There is a bug in GNOME Shell which breaks the CSS for all extensions if you use the User-Theme extension. The bug is not in the User-Theme extension, but this extension exposes it.

Giovanni Campagna, a GNOME Shell developer has reported a bug and already submitted 3 patches for including libappindicator + dbusmenu support in GNOME Shell as a part of the core, not as an extension (because it can't be implemented as an extension).

There are various ways to encrypt some private files in your Dropbox folder: you can use Truecript, EncFS, SecretSync (now available for Linux too) etc. but I find EncFS to be the best/easiest solution. Read on.

There's a very old thread @ Ubuntuforums which includes a python script to get NotifyOSD notifications for Skype. Since the first post, the python script has been improved by many users and it now provides both Ubuntu Messaging Menu integration (with all the features the Messaging Menu provides like the envelope icon changing color when you have a pending notification, etc.) as well as NotifyOSD notifications for Skype.

We finally have a free software tool to extract RARv3 archives on Linux. The news comes from a post on the Free Software Foundation blog which presents a new tool that can extract archives in many different formats, including RARv3.

VirtualBox 4.0.8 Released With GNOME Shell Support (For Fedora 15 And Ubuntu 11.04)

Activity Log Manager lets you delete part of the Zeitgeist history, blacklist some applications or prevent logging certain types of files as well as blacklist folders. This is useful if you want to keep some recent files from showing up in Dash (in Unity) or maybe just to exclude some private files or folders and so on.
