Linux isn't happy with GNOME 3 and wants a fork of GNOME. Linus has shared this thoughts about GNOME 3 in a Google Plus thread and he’s not happy with it. At all. He’s using Xfce instead, and I really can’t blame him. I wasn’t impressed with GNOME 3 either. It probably should not have been released in its current form. I would not use it and I used to be a big GNOME fan. Here are the text of his messages, and here’s a link to the Google Plus thread they came from.

Mageia 1 Review

Mandriva had been around a long time and is a popular desktop distribution. I was intrigued to find that Mandriva now has a fork called Mageia. The first release of Mageia came out recently and I finally found some time to sit down and give it a go. Mageia was created by former Mandriva contributors. For more background, be sure to read the original announcement about Mageia.

Distrohopping can be fun, but there's a downside to everything. I’ve been a distrohopper for as long as I can remember. What is a distrohopper you might be wondering? Well it’s a guy or gal who loves using different desktop distros and who frequently hops from one to another. I wrote a column about the Psychology of a Distrohopper a while back that explores what exactly goes on in the minds of distrohoppers.
