The world is talking about GNU/Linux and Free/Open Source Software
Don't fall for the monoculture myth
Another member of the Windows ecosystem takes a rhetorical stance in favor of a software monoculture, in this case, the Adobe Acrobat PDF reader/viewer.
Apparently, people in the Windows Ecosystem are still smarting from Dan Geer et al's 2003 paper, "CyberInsecurity: The cost of Monopoly, How the Dominance of Microsoft's Products Poses a Risk to Security" (http://www.ccianet.org/papers/cyberinsecurity.pdf).
Periodically, a heavy hitter needs to announce that the safety of a software monoculture is not at risk, and we must not even think of using alternatives. Here's this quarter's heavy hit!
