Today We’ve received a letter from EditShare subscription. In this letter we’ve found that Lightworks is going to be released very soon, and we want to share these good news with you. Lightworks is a professional Non-linear video editing tool. First version of it was published in 1989, has since worked hard to compete with Apple products. British company, the developer has repeatedly resold, and ultimately purchased by EditShare last year.

Since the landmark Lightworks Open Source announcement (April 2010), development team had over 1700 developers and 20,000 editors sign up for the program. With many new features close to finalization, they have embarked on a comprehensive beta testing program, putting Lightworks through its paces and the feedback they have received so far has been excellent.

Lightworks for FREE … just in time for the holidays!

On November 29th free download will be available for those, who have registered on their web-site. It’s their the first step in the roll out of Lightworks Open Source. And it means that we can try it, write a review and send the founded bug information for the developers.

Platform Support

We are still receiving questions regarding OS support for Lightworks. Currently, Lightworks runs on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit, and Windows XP 32-bit. We are looking to port it to Linux and OSX, but this won’t happen until late 2011.
