One of the triumphs of Ubuntu — and Linux in general — is the multitude of straight-forward, easy to use and useful applications written on a lazy Sunday afternoon. TypeCatcher by Andrew Starr-Bochicchio is no different. TypeCatcher allows users to easily browse and preview all of Google Webfonts quickly and easily.

For now, the application serves only the basic function of searching the Google Webfont’s archive and previewing each font at different sizes. Once you’ve found one you like, you can install it directly! I’m not sure what other functionality is needed, but Andrew promises to review bugs and feature requests here. We’ve already added one of our own, so you should too!
