This is the second and final episode in our mini series on how to replace your traditional, commercial cloud storage system with your own platform, and thus take back control of your data but at the same time continue to enjoy the plethora of benefits the cloud provides.

The platform we build in the mini series comprises:
1. A VPS with Ubuntu Server LTS
2. The Amazon S3 compatible StorageQloud
3. BitTorrent Sync, for fast and secure file synchronization between computers, devices and cloud servers
4. OpenVPN, for secure access to the BitTorrent Sync web panel. Additionally, OpenVPN is extremely useful for secure access to the Internet, even if you’re connected to a random, possibly insecure hotspots.
