FFmpeg 3.0 Is a Massive Release with DXVA2-accelerated VP9 Decoding, New Filters

The FFmpeg developers revealed earlier today the massive FFmpeg 3.0 release of the popular and powerful open-source multimedia framework for GNU/Linux operating systems.

The new features are quite impressive, and FFmpeg 3.0 includes support for decoding and encoding Common Encryption (CENC) MP4 files, support for decoding DXV streams, a ADPCM PSX decoder, and support for decoding Screenpresso SPV1 streams.

Other awesome new features include a wve demuxer, an ADPCM AICA decoder, a SDX2 DPCM decoder, XMA1 and XMA2 decoder, a Cineform HD decoder, an IVR demuxer, a chromaprint fingerprinting muxer, VAAPI VP9 hwaccel, and a nnedi deinterlacer.
