When it comes to "most valuable tools for untying mental knots and figuring things out," two items appear at the top of my list. The first is this clip from Benny Hill about what happens when we make assumptions. I saw it on (the opposite of a flat-screen) TV as a child years ago, and still reflect on it several times weekly. Its message—operating by assumptions is unlikely to end well, so don't—hasn't failed me yet. read more
