When providing the world with Independent Music, wouldn't it be nice to know that they were also promoting Open Source? There aren't many websites out there (that I know of) that do...

However, a new Music store has just popped up out of obscurity recently, http://www.ind-music.com. It not only promotes the Independent Music world, but also promotes the Open Source world as well. In today's world of Mainstream Music and Proprietary software, it is nice to see an alternative. Ind-Music.com runs Mandrakelinux 10.1, PHP 4.3, MySQL 4, Apache 2.0, and their forums run on phpBB. The music files for download are in Ogg Vorbis file format, and they even provide users with links to Open Source utilities that can help users burn, edit, and rip their music. You can also see at various places, links to other open source projects such as Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, and Openoffice.
The site doesn't blatantly issue a challenge to the mainstream software and music world, but with an entire community behind it, then there may not be a need to.
