Laura DiDio is paid shrill
She is paid by MS and SCO just like Brown and Enderle. Good BS test is when Indemnification is mentioned in any article we know is a paid write-up
I agree that the "Indemnification" is meaningless, the majority of companies i come in contact with get their support hardware and software from third partys, actual indemnification from MS or such is meaningless, what small company can afford to sue/claim against MS and the like.
Plus i don't think Laura is looking hard enough, here is one example from the UK

And i am sure i could find more if i spent more than 1 minute on it :)

Didio's new tune
DiDio sez:
"Using Linux makes sense if you are a small or mid-size company -- or school district or government agency -- on a tight budget and cannot afford licenses for Windows"
This is actually a major change in attitude for DiDio. Actually admitting that Linux is good for anything at all is significant, especially since Microsoft is doing what it can to keep SMBs from falling off the wagon.
Microsoft must no longer be paying her, because she has been outed as a shill and no longer effective as a FUD-spreader.

agree - to even see Didio write the string "using linux makes sense..." was an eye opener for me as well.
Last year's advice
"Still, while Linux vendors sing the praises of their products for across-the-board enterprise I.T. operations, a wholesale switch from Windows to Linux may not be the best move for most businesses."
Yeah, well, duh. You're an idiot if you convert everything all at once. Mail me the full report, NOT!
Actually, this quote got me thinking. Back in December-January, the trade rags were all jumping up and down about how 2004 was going to be the break-out year for the Linux desktop, with some major rollouts, yet here we are at mid-year and nary a peep about them. What happened? Did MS manage to strangle these in infancy?

There is some major roll-outs underway, but I think we are reading a little less about them as they are not yet finished. If you were in charge would you declare victory or failure for that matter in mid stream?
I can think of IBM and Oracle that is in midstream.
The famed Munich project has had some difficulties, but I do not think they are serious. Moving from NT to XP has it's share of problems for a major organization so let's keep the Munich project in perspective.
