Microsoft Corp. says it is looking to turn over more of its programs to open-source software developers, playing a greater role in a process that the Redmond company has criticized strongly at times in the past.

Steer clear of Microsoft source code unless its license guarantees that it is unencumbered! The last thing we want is to have some random library find its way into the open source pool, only to get whacked a couple of years later by a Microsoft submarine patent.
