Ancient Windows run on Linux

A US COMPANY has dreamed up a system that runs all those ancient Windows programs you might have lying around, but on a Linux machine. The downside is that it only runs the Windows 95, 98 and ME applications and it has to be done using some special kit.

No big news here. All they're really selling is a pre-integrated bundle containing Xandros Linux, Win4Lin, a licensed copy of Windows 98SE to run on it, and hardware. Any halfway intelligent LXer could do this at home in a single evening.

Win4Lin has a nice level of integration, but it's really a shame that this option is quickly losing its viability as the Windows world moves on to NT-based technology. Netraverse needs to figure out how to get Windows 2000 running on Linux ... fast.
