The Linux operating system continues to increase in popularity. This growth has created a greater demand for qualified and trained technicians. CBT Nuggets has produced a series of training videos focussing on the Linux operating system and the Linux Professional Instute's intermediate level certification.

Eugene, Oregon (PRWEB) September 13, 2005 -- CBT Nuggets, Inc. announces the availability of their new Linux Professional Institute Certification Level 2 (LPIC-2) training videos, which map to Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exams 201 and 202. The videos contain all the exam objectives for LPIC-2 certification, plus helpful tips and tricks for the real-world application of LPIC-2 knowledge in administrating Linux servers for network or internet use.

The Linux LPIC-2 Series builds on CBT Nuggets, Inc.'s previous LPIC-1 videos, teaching you to administer network and internet servers running the Linux operating system. The videos include detailed instruction on the Linux kernel, samba and NFS servers, Mail Management, news serving, DNS, web and FTP servers, Linux security and more. CBT Nuggets, Inc. covers the concepts in a series of short, 20-30 minute video segments or “nuggets,” so that the material learned can quickly be put to use on the job.

“Linux is becoming an increasingly popular alternative in the server operating systems market. The performance and stability of Linux systems often make them the best way to meet one's network and internet server needs. Our LPIC video series is a great way for IT professionals to get the Linux skills it takes to get the best performance out of Linux servers,” said Dan Charbonneau, CEO and Founder of CBT Nuggets, Inc.

Sample videos from the Linux LPIC-2 Series and from other CBT Nuggets training are available for viewing on the CBT Nuggets website, providing examples of the quality of instruction and format of the training.

CBT Nuggets, Inc. products provide comprehensive training for Microsoft®, CompTIA®, Cisco®, Citrix® and Project Management Institute® certification exams. The training is designed to offer technical accuracy in conjunction with real-world analogies to promote understanding for beginners and experts alike.

CBT Nuggets, Inc. is the leader in video-based IT certification training. Based in Eugene, Oregon, the company was founded in 1999 and is committed to providing quality educational training videos to the information technology industry. For more information, visit [HYPERLINK@www.cbtnuggets.com.]

Almost had me convinced

A check of the web site shows system requirements of MS only. I would love to train for LPIC2 but not if I have to use Windows. It seems wrong to require Windows in training for a Linux certification.
Make sense to me, that way the certifying entity can claim those being certified reach the same, high standards imposed upon Windows Certified Software Engineers. Go ahead find a hole in that logic!
There are cheaper ways to pass LPIC level 1. Personally, I bought a 4 year old O' Reilly book for some 40 euros and passsed. It's sad however, there aren't books aimed at LPIC level 2 as far as I know, but at lynuxtraining.com it seems you also can follow an e-learning course. Anyone here has experience with LPIC level 2? (I am thinking about preparing for it, but I'm just a linux 'hobbyist', only use Linux on my PC; never worked with servers or networks, so it's not going to be easy)
O'Reilly will have a new and very updated LPI book (big damn book) out in March. It's the offical curriculum.

Just checked with the editor.

Canned pork product, you say? Perhaps you should try the Pirate Bay. Now shut up and go away. Before you cause a melee. Have a nice day.

Just another spambot. So many of the darned things have been released into the Internet they have taken on lives of their own. I wish they would return to their masters and stab them between their heads.

One can see that the piece was originally posted to LXer 2 1/2 years ago on Sep 13, 2005 by tadelste. While CBT Nuggets does have streaming Linux-training videos, (sorry, must register for these!) available via http://www.cbtnuggets.com/webapp/videos , why not instead obtain the bona fide hands-on practice and experience that the LPI tests candidates upon ?? One could start with going through the rute, http://rute.2038bug.com, on a spare low-end Testing system --- DO NOT use a Production system! Note that rute 1.0.0 is somewhat dated and the author, Paul Sheer, claims that only the LPIC-1 exam-material is covered within. One could also go through Linux from Scratch, http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/ using this Test system.

For freely-available LPI exam-specific material and review --- of course(!) practicing this on the Test system just built- -- check out IBM's fine developworks 'Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exam prep' at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/lpi/?S_TACT=105AGX03... Again as for the free streaming CBT Nuggets videos, there is a required one-time registration.

Besides LXer responses such as this one, one's local Linux Users Group (=LUG) may very well be able to provide further LPI-specific resources upon request. Seriously consider going through http://www.linux.org/groups/ to find and participate in the closest LUG.

First off, the correct Rute User's Tutorial and Exposition link is http://rute.2038bug.com/ An extra web-browsing-defeating comma got in the way at the end of vainrveenr's above link.

Secondly, I myself do not see any connection between the accurate URL-name of this rute training website and the _real_ year 2038 bug mentioned at Red Hat Magazine's 'Tips and tricks: What is the 2038 bug? Is my system affected? How do I fix this issue?'

Was there somehow an implied connection here?
