wow.. didn't know windows server 2003 cost only 500 bucks. How bout that price drop when eliminating vendor lock in and reducing cost to a fat zero. You'd think the price would drop around 500 bucks...then people actually might spring for it. Until then, I'd say I can pass on this...afterall, I can get a dell poweredge for that price with more RAM and more computing power and install Linux/Samba on it and load it with drives. Then I can slap a wirless card in it for about 20 bucks and call it my NAS. Pricetag? Right around 900 bucks. And I probably got an MS Windows License out of the deal as well. That and a subway token will get me on the subway. |
