They won't be available in Australia either, I've been told by a nice Lenovo rep that there is no market for Linux.

could someone explain to me why? if they are making them what difference does it make where they ship them? or is it one of the secret backroom business deals that us dumb users can't know about.

your talking laptops - I can understand about cars etc but it is a laptop who cares where they make them just ship them anywhere.

I don't get it.

I matters where they ship them too because MS pays them to not ship to those markets. At leasst that is the only thing that makes sense to me.

It would be interesting to know just how many people call them and ask for Linux and get told that there isn't a market for it....

based on my experience with ordinary average non technical mom and dad type users, if Linux is available and advertised, and available at the right price point, it will sell, on any hardware configuration.
