Well for me every year since 2000 has been the year of Linux. for some of my customers, it's been since 2006, for other since 2007, and for other it was 2008.

I don't take much notice of the this year will be the year of Linux. Nor do I take much notice of the "reason why Linux won't succeed on the desktop" opinions. My interaction with real people tells me something quite different.

Maybe we can get it added to the Chinese calendar.

Then Year of the Rat, Year of the Dog and Year of the Linux Desktop can all have their time in the spotlight.

I disagree with some of his statements about Netbooks. Some of the hardware specs are as good as many 'low-end' laptops that are sold with the 'promise' of being able to do all the things that he says Netbooks cannot do, which those 'low-end' laptops can't do well either.

The year of the linux desktop came in 1993 for me - and it's gotten better every year since then.

Gus, 1995 was also the year of the last Windows version I used by choice.
