SA-based OpenLab International has introduced an ultra-light version of its Linux distribution that is designed to run on a range of computer technology.

Digi International has expanded its ConnectCore family to include ARM7 and ARM9 core modules. The ConnectCore 7U, ConnectCore 9P 9360 and ConnectCore 9P 9750 are flexible, high-performance embedded core modules that enable users to easily design in main processing functionality with fully integrated Ethernet networking capabilities. They are targeted at products such as access control systems, point-of-sale systems, RFID readers, medical devices and networked displays.

A small database consulting firm that maintains an open source, embeddable database says it has partnered with MontaVista. ITTIA says its db.* database has been tested on MontaVista Linux Pro 3.1, and the company will present a Webinar tomorrow (Thursday) on using db.* with MontaVista Linux.

Banc of America Securities has reiterated its "buy" rating for Red Hat Inc. stock and raised its price target for the Raleigh-based Linux reseller to $22 per share from $20.
