This article explains how to use the integrated environment provided by the IBM
SDK for Linux on Power for developing cross-compiled applications for IBM Power servers
using IBM Advance Toolchain and QEMU usermode. The SDK is a free, Eclipse-based
integrated development environment (IDE), which integrates C/C++ source development with
the Advance Toolchain, Post-Link Optimization, and classic Linux performance analysis
tools, including Oprofile, Perf, and Valgrind.

Firefox OS: It’s Not You, It’s Me
For the last few days, I’ve tried to replace the ZTE firmware and Firefox OS, and ran into signature errors on both counts. Both GPG and Java signature solutions gleaned from various sources seem to have both escaped or abandoned me, and now the “reset” has resulted in the blue Firefox OS screen immediately followed by the majestic fox with the flaming tail. And that’s it.
A fun way to read list using notifications
You may want to build your vocabulary on some domain specific words e.g languages, definitions etc. However, you get bored (get nowhere) if you sit there and start reading the whole list. A fun way to read the words can be by using desktop popups that goes through the list one line at a time. In linux, you can use few tools to achieve that. In this tutorial, we will build a custom script that will help you build such list.
All Of These Works Should Be In The Public Domain, But Aren't
Every year for the past few years, the good folks at Duke's Center for the Study of the Public Domain have put up a list of works that should have gone into the public domain on January 1st had Congress not massively expanded the law. Each year, it's a depressing look at what works should be in the public domain. As a reminder, when these works were created, the creators knew the terms under which they were created and knew that they would have gone into the public domain by now -- and they found that to be more than enough incentive to create those works.

Developers Of Chrome Extension That Finds Cheaper Textbook Prices Receives Legal Threats From Major Textbook Supplier
The textbook publishing industry has turned books of facts into overvalued goods on par with "priceless" finds at antique stores. To keep margins high and the revenue stream flowing, publishers screw with pagination in order to create "new" editions every year, turning textbooks into useless piles of paper the moment they're purchased. Trading one in at the end of the class means receiving pennies on the dollar for your original investment. Stocking up for another semester's worth of classes means shelling out hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Rinse. Repeat.

The number of pay TV subscribers drops as Dish launches Sling TV
I dumped cable TV years ago, and I’ve never missed it. It’s expensive, and it’s filled with a zillion channels of garbage that I never had any interest in watching anyway. Apparently I’m not alone because an article in the Mercury News notes that the number of pay TV subscribers dropped in 2013, for the first time ever.

Creating or updating a MySQL user involves managing all these attributes of the user account.
A Tinker’s Damn Is Worth More than You Think
There is no doubt that we live in a throwaway society. We see it most every recycle day throughout our streets and neighborhoods. Flat screen monitors, computers…even appliances that cost hundreds of dollars. Standing stoically, awaiting their fate to be crushed and sold for scrap.
