Plasma Active lock screen

One thing that was never really great in Plasma Active was the interaction with power and lock capabilities. We had a power button widget in the panel despite all devices having a power button. The lock screen looked pretty, but it only did locking. A new QML UI for the log out dialog was provided but it never felt quite right to me, though it looks so much nicer on Plasma Desktop compared to what we had previously. (This is a nice example of how the different Plasma workspaces help each other improve.)

Flashkill: Adobe’s worst decision ever?

Adobe, as we all know, is on a killing spree recently, and the ones most affected by their actions are Linux and all its friends. After dropping support for AIR for Linux, and Flash for mobile, the California-based company has decided to abandon the Linux version of its popular yet universally hated Flash player. The news, oddly enough, didn’t cause any major panic among penguinians, as Flash will still live on for Google Chrome users via the Pepper plug-in API. Though the announcement might seem like a jubilant moment for many HTML5 supporters, it is still a rather disappointing decision as far as the Linux platform is concerned. The question is whether this move by Adobe will affect Linux in any way? And, is this their worst decision ever?

Terrible Linux

  • Raymii.org; By Remy van Elst (Posted by relst on Feb 23, 2012 12:01 PM EDT)
  • Groups: Debian, Xfce
I don't like the changes going on in Linux Desktop land. Unity, KDE4, Gnome shell, they're all fine pieces of software, but just not for me. Thats why I created a debian remaster, called Terrible. With a taskbar, window buttons, a shutdown button, the Xfce desktop and a IMHO nice theme and usable software.
