If you upgraded today to the just-released Linux 3.2 kernel and your Intel system is now having problems booting this new kernel release, you're not alone, but here's a possible workaround. A regression struck the Linux 3.2 kernel concerning IOMMU and is still present in the final release of Linux 3.2. The issue didn't appear during the 3.2 merge window but later on in the cycle (if my memory serves me when I first struck the issue, it was around -rc2 or -rc3) and results in the kernel not successfully booting.

Cinnamon is a new desktop environment, forked from GNOME 3 by the developers of Linux Mint. It is intended as an optional desktop for those who have not taken kindly to GNOME 3 or Unity desktop environments. While it is still very rough around the edges, I find it a lot better to use than GNOME 3 and slightly better than Unity. It has nothing on KDE, though. Google is switching its Google TV platform from the Intel Atom to a new dual-core ARMv7 processor from Marvell. The dual-core, 1.2GHz Armada 1500 HD Media system on chip (SoC) -- featuring a Qdeo video subsystem capable of processing 3D HD video streams -- will be built into Marvell's Foresight Platform reference design for Google TV, according to the chipmaker....

Jeff Bilyk announced last evening, January 4th, the immediate availability for download of the third point release of the Alpine Linux 2.3 operating system. Alpine Linux 2.3.3 is powered by Linux kernel 3.0.14, containing a patch that resolves OpenNHRP and MTU issues reported in previous releases.
