A Fork Of GNOME 2: The Mate Desktop
A lot of people hate Canonical's Unity desktop, but a lot of people also hate the current state of the GNOME 3.0 Shell too. Red Hat: Where recessions are good news
While Silicon Valley is still bubbling like it's 1999, tech investor Mark Suster thinks the flailing job market and imploding stock market is a warning to entrepreneurs: raise what money you can as fast as you can, because life is about to get much harder, even for web companies. But at least one company must be looking at the impending doom and smiling ear to ear: Red Hat. Quarter after quarter, through good times and bad, Red Hat delivers excellent performance.

Three reasons you might want to install PCMANFM - The LXDE File Manager
File management is not a sexy job, but it is something you probably do a lot of. Nautilus, the default Gnome file manager, does a pretty good job, but it does have a few shortcomings. Of course you are not limited to Nautilus, and I have found the LXDE file manager PCMANFM quite handy. Here's why.
Court Ruling Opens The Door To Rejecting Many Software Patents As Being Mere 'Mental Processes'
Well, this is getting interesting. Last year, when the Supreme Court ruled very narrowly in the Bilski case, without making any explicit statement (as precedent) on overall software or business model patents, many people were frustrated.

Abandon Skype all ye who enter here
But this obvious need, to find people, is being met by scores of different efforts in scores of different ways. People Finders are popping up like crazy. Put a proper name in a Google search and see for yourself. At this point many are paid services, if the individual has not put themselves online deliberately, but one's SIP address is just as easy to list as any other address or phone number.
Review: Linux Mint 11 "Katya" LXDE
The GNOME ALSA mixer is a pain to use, so the LXDE edition is overall a little harder to use than the GNOME edition, yet it's just as heavyweight too, so I don't see any point in using it.
