Automatically Resume from Suspend to Ram and Suspend to Disk to Save Battery in Linux

Suspending to RAM is allows the system to quickly wake up. But Suspend to Disk allows the system to completely power off, saving more power. That's why I've written a small script for modern Linux systems, which wakes up the system from S3 (memory sleep) and puts it into S5 (hibernation) mode. Also, it prevents you from losing data, because eventually your system's battery will run out. This script helps.

I was disappointed when The Great Intelligence was brought back for three episodes of Doctor Who this season but they Yeti were not. What good is The Great Intelligence without his robotic yeti?

Hybrid Suspend

Why not just use the "pm-suspend-hybrid" command?

Suspend and hibernation can be combined: the contents of RAM are first copied to disk as with regular hibernation, but then, instead of powering down, the computer suspends. This approach combines the benefits of suspend and hibernation. The machine can resume instantaneously, but it can also be powered down completely (e.g. due to loss of power) without loss of data, because it is already effectively in a state of hibernation. This mode is called "hybrid suspend."
