[Ed: - Security Innovation is so 'independent', it is a professional services provider for Microsoft. Though the Press release says the study can be found at MS' Get the Facts page, I couldn't find it. -hkwint]
[Ed. - UPDATE: The study is here. - hkwint ]

Today at the IT Forum 2005 event in Barcelona, Spain, Microsoft announced findings from a report it commissioned from Security Innovation, a leading independent provider of application security services, which concluded that as requirements evolved over time, the Microsoft Windows platform was more consistent, predictable and easier to manage than Linux.

Consistent, predictable and easier to penetrate

If you're looking for a steady stream of CA-96.13 style "destruction of your entire invasion fleet" vulnerabilities, MS-Windows would indeed be your pigeon.

I think what the author means is "this is a familiar interface and doesn't use any terms that someone ready to graduate from a primary school would find confusing" with the implied subtext "but if I really understood what it was doing or not doing, I'd run away screaming".

Linux servers are more work to get into, but of course there are more tools available when you do. There's a reason that reprobates plan break into banks rather than junkyards.

I feel a "Get the real facts" story coming!

Though -I never read reports like this, -I never used Suse, -I never worked with Linux on a professional basis, I see a lot of really stupid errors in this study (actually, can't believe anyone takes this serious).

Hope to write an article about it soon!

The 'study' (lying propaganda) is here:

After I wrote it, should ask for comments from SI, for making such a lousy blog instead of a real study.
Well, that's a good idea. I'd like to get this "get the facts" issue out in front of the public. A good way to do that is get it on digg.com and let a zillion people blog it.

we're ten votes away from the front page.
