Well, this is certainly good news. RedHat has shown once again that they are willing to do the right thing. The pace may seem glacial at times, but they do truly believe in open source and act accordingly.

RH has been a pretty good benevolent dictator for Fedora, and no doubt they will continue to hold great influence over it. But this is definitely a step in the right direction. Being spun off into a Foundation certainly hasn't hurt Mozilla.

It's sort of weird in a way. If you remember the project before it was hijacked by RH, it was simply the community's way of giving support for Red Hat consumer level products since Red Hat wouldn't do it themselves.

Arguably, that original "fedora" organization would have been more beneficial to Red Hat than the newly unchained Fedora(tm). The reason I say this is that there's not (perhaps) the same level of die-hard allegiance to Red Hat... funny thing about introducing decision points.. you never know which way things will go.

Very interesting. Let's see what happens.
