I'm currently using e17 myself. The Elive CD was solid though I did not install from it. Instead, I used the repositories that the Elive folks have graciously made available to add it to my Ubuntu install. Using the repos with Ubuntu involves some work (mainly, replacing 5 or 6 Ubuntu packages with Debian packages) but with Debian they seem to be flawless.

Anybody who enjoys a good combo of speed and beauty should try out e17.

I was floored by the elive CD, but would prefer to keep Ubuntu under the hood.

Would you mind publishing the elive repository? And which pacakages did you replace?

Thanks! -kit

I posted a HOWTO on the Ubuntu Forums

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=61488

Some are reporting problems. Others find it working well. Probably the thing to remember most is that e17 is still alpha (at least I think it's not beta yet). If you have problems, post your questions there. I'm not an enlightenment expert but I'll see what I can do.
