I've done two gentoo installs from stage 1. I wanted to learn the gentoo mindset and I had the time to spend, so I wasn't disappointed at the time I had to put in. Usually I want to build the server and get on to the apps, so I use Slack. When I read the author's stated goals, I made a guess about the outcome of his project, and I was dead on. The tool (gentoo)isn't flawed, he just chose the wrong tool for the task and time he was willing to spend. Time to go try a Debian install.... DT |
