This is a mind-numbingly horrible feature. An un-Mac'ishly crude construction.

I decided to test the author's first assertion: "People always say, why can't Linux have some of the same functionality as OSX?"

If they "always say" it they apparently don't do it on the web.

I think the functionality has to do with drivers and commercial software support from Adobe and Microsoft. Outside of the multi-media monopoly which Apple and Microsoft share, I'm not sure their applications over reach gnome or some of the kde apps.

I'd prefer OOo on the Mac to MS Office.

Am I the only person who hates the OS X interface?

Seriously, I can't stand it and everybody seems to think it's the best thing ever.

Well Fritz, iI hardly hate it, but I don't see what all the fuss is about, and I much prefer Linux and KDE.

I don't hate it. I like it. For example, when using photoshop, the entire desktop becomes part of the application. The look and feel is consistent and stable and innovative.

But, I don't own a Mac right now and I use gnome. I like the ideas the gnome developers borrowed from OS X.
