Some might question the need to have such company-wide certification across multiple departments, some of which are not really into solving technical problems or supporting the client.

But, upon thinking about it, I think it is a very smart move indeed: 1. The cost of running the certification classes are probably going to be very similar if 1 or 100 people attend them. 2. Nice way to lock in staff, by promising self-improvement and perhaps having them to refund the company of the certification costs if the employee leaves the company soon after obtaining the certification. 3. Finally a company where salesmen have some real technical knowledge. A lot of tearful IT stories stemmed from overselling, probably not out of malice but simply technical ignorance. 4.
