It seems that there are many of us who feel that Linux distros need to take more care in providing their users with the best experience.

Very odd indeed.

People who are used to altering backgrounds ("wallpaper"?) and recovering from the features of MS have little or no trouble taking a desktop distro and running with it. The folks who have to call on the kid next door to recover, or who are tossing their computers and buying another with the same mess, or who just want an appliance for browsing and email, need a simpler desktop than a generic KDE or GNOME.

I think that's the next step.

The so-called vertical apps stack that businesses need will likely be provided by businesses. There are probably individuals and Mom&Pop shops out there now providing a service to the appliance users by making things as simple as possible.

It just seems to me that some of the folks who are helping others have an easy to use Linux box might be persuaded to share that info.
