I agree with this. I am one of those webmasters who dropped Google because of their censorship and am also trying to keep our sites clean off advertising proprietary software and unethical stuff. We don't want to promote that.

The problem is though that even all alternative advertising networks to Google Adsense use proprietary software for its operation, and you can't escape that in any other way than to either not run advertising at all or build your own "inhouse" network for your sites. I am planning to do something of the sort using free phpadsnew software for our network, but this is still not the kind of thing you get with something like adsense (I can't even accept paypal in my country which is a rather large obstacle to selling anything).
