The reason Asterisk came into existence was because the PBX industry is just as fossilized as the telecommunications industry. Traditional PBXs are hideously expensive, inflexible, and massively incompatible. Pay no attention to this silliness and continue to enjoy your nice Asterisk-based iPBX.
