True, Snort does not have the GPL license in plain view on the website; imo it should be easy'er to find.

Snort package has a copy of the gpl license, as it should; two open source dowload sites, Sourceforge and Freshmeat, both list Snort with details of the project along with that Snort is gpl licensed. I believe Snort should as Sourceforge and Freshmeat do, make the GPL license available for reading in a location that people to the site for the first time can find.

Odd article, I don't know what to say about it.

That covers it pretty well. Either the U.S. federal government is overflowing with ignorance about the multitude of open source licenses, or else the article is pointing a worried finger at the wrong reasons for concern.

Those are the only two explanations I can come up with, anyway.
