I'm not so sure that rampant blogging is all that desirable. Official corporate bloggers are still all about spewing forth the company party line. There are some exceptions- Sun's blogs were fun because McNealy and Schwartz were deliberately provocative. Then the blogs from lesser-known Sun employees seemed fairly un-censored, and continually contradicted each other- "We love linux and open source!" "Linux and open source are evil, evil I say!" But that's the exception.

Most corporate blogs either do not allow reader comments, or moderate them severely. A real conversation has give-and-take. But then, a sizable percentage of reader comments are junk anyway. As far as getting "valuable comments back", most companies already have a huge quantity of useful customer available that they ignore. Blogs are just the latest hawt fad.
