There are a number of FLOSS systems management/monitoring packages available. There's even an interop consortium at open-management.com

And anyway, the whole article is basically a link to three NetIQ white papers.

And... you have something against white papers? I find them to be very useful. One cold winter I used some to insulate my boots and burned some for heat. A friend of mine raises show finches and canaries, and he was happy to receive a nice pile of white papers for cage liners. And they keep the PHBs busy and not bugging you.

Being a former NetIQ product manager... No, it isn't open source. Far from it. They are so far in bed with M$, I'm surprised they know how to spell Linux.
