They are obviously streaming WMV, probably using Windows Media Server, but the MPlayer plugin on my machine plays it fine. |

That's funny considering they released 1.0rc1 a couple weeks ago.....

And what possible reason can they have for not using .ogg? It's universal- plays fine on Linux, mac, and windows. This is just another example of extreme retardation in government, possibly with an assist from microshaft. Using closed, proprietary formats for public documents is beyond stupid; IMO it's well into corrupt. |

Well obviously it's easier to record something, save it as wmv, setup (and pay for?) winders media server to stream it, and hope it doesn't crash than to record it, save as ogg, create an m3u to stream it (you know hard those text files are to create...), upload the files to the server, and tell people that they need to use a real media player to view it. Well, I can kinda understand the real medial player part, since your average winders user probably doesn't know players other than wmp even exist...and since wmp won't play ogg without hunting down a codec.... Of course, they could just link to a codec and/or some proper media players for those who realize wmp won't play it.... |
