I suggest eating the cake. It's the best way to tell what you think of the recipe as a none chef because almost any other criteria of judging is going to be technical and therefore need someone who understands to appreciate it.

You have hit on the reality of life.

Non-coders don't give a rat's behind about the quality of the code --- whatever quality code actually means.

They care about things that work well and don't have a lot of problems.

As a practical matter, that tends to go along with good code, but...

To technicians, code quality is highly subjective. And,sometimes, just weird.
