The author of this "Virtues" of monoculture is sort of correct.

If you read the economics literature, you find things like the research of Sheena Iyengar: http://www.columbia.edu/~ss957/articles.html

Multiple papers about how too much choice demotivates people, etc etc.

I mention this to defend Dinotrac in the other thread attached to this article, and I put it in a new thread so as not to get lost in the hubbub.

I personally do think that MS rewards stupidity and ignorance, but the economics literature supports Dinotrac's assertions. I don't know about the link between "too many FLOSS choices" and "MS rewarding stupidity and ignorance", though.
