Yay, someone at Microsoft must have a bad case of megalomania. "We're the largest software maker in the world, we can redefine *all* the standards!!!"

Anyone typing equations in Word should be flogged anyway. If you can't use LyX or some other LaTeX frontend, you're too stupid to be submitting to science journals.
