I think more people need to understand the Free vs. free argument, and they need to be told this from a friendlier perspective, one that is not so didactic...which, unfortunately, most of us find ourselves doing at some point quite easily. The recent GNU birthday video with Stephen Fry is a great example, a very friendly individual comparing Free Software to having a friend fix the plumbing in your house. MS and Co. don't allow that sort of freedom. I couldn't imagine buying a car that I wasn't allowed to work on myself, or to get a friend or different vendor to work on. That said, I still take it back to the Toyota shop for all service, etc...but that's choice at work, not mere enforced circumstance. | ||

It's EXPENSIVE, BLOATED, and UNSTABLE? I'm gonna have to get out there and laugh derisively at it right now! (Take care, lest Zippy the Pinhead show up.) |
