I've recommended this to you before but I don't know if you actually tried it:

1) Turn framebuffer compression off 2) Use EXA instead of XAA

That fixed all intel problems on Debian for me.

Yep Sander nailed it. I had absolute fits with a Fujitsu lifebook...getting it to boot. It refused to boot the top 20 distros. Some would limp into X but the graphics looked like a picaso painting after he spent a week on Orange Barrel. His suggestion, while I am not quite understanding why, fixed the problem straight away

1969...small little shack on Jefferson St. In berkeley...was a lab rat for a guy named Matt Ressert...tried to be the next Stanley Owsley.... Best job I ever couldn't remember. And no, "orange barrel" has nothing to do in this context with traffic construction.
