Sweet. What kind of DVI port is that? If an adapter for it to VGA is cheap...that would a sweet little desktop or server.

That's a weird port. It's labeled DVI but looks like no DVI port I've ever seen. It looks like a HDMI port to me. Compare the screenshots with these:

By Cromm, _another_ video hardware port?

Somewhere around here I think I still have one of those SPARC to VGA adapters.

Right next to my RS232 25-to-9 pin converter.

What I really want is a PCI (not PCI-e!) video card with composite out. Can't find one. Clearly I am way too far behind the tech curve.

Don't get too excited. DVI has it's uses. The sole purpose of HDMI is forcing DRM down your throat.

By the way,I think I have a PCI with composite out but if I do, it's going to be old. 1998-ish old. I definitely have an AGP with composite out lying around (Nvidia TNT2 32 MB).

That does look like an HDMI port, which is compatible with DVI with an adapter, he should have called it an HDMI port not a DVI port.

Link to an adapter if anyone is interested. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id...

Note that the converter will only give you DVI-D as in digital, not DVI-A (analogue) so you still need a monitor that can understand a digital signal or convert it.

Colonel you don't have to worry about the DRM aspects of the HDMI if you run linux on the system, but you will be able to connect it to your new HDTV.

I wonder if it has the sound pass-through with the HDMI or if it is just video.

Boom: Don't have a TV. If it is not on the internet it is not worth knowing about.

Then it's likely to have a working Linux driver!
