Net Applications customers are not an accurate representation of the net as a whole or of where Linux users surf the web. This number is artificially low and always has been. Right now it's lower than Linux share of preloaded systems sales which is also an artificially low number. Sorry, not buying 1%. |

Well, and then there is the fact that there are still a lot of Linux users that run browsers that lie about their identity to fool web sites that will only work with IE. While I agree that the count probably understates Linux usage, it is at least good news that even by this flawed measurement desktop Linux usage is growing. Especially when you still see "news" stories/blogs claiming things like "desktop Linux is dying/dead"... |

I don't buy the 1% either, the derivation of which is flawed for several reasons - but it gives me a great idea for a sig: "proud to be one of the 1%" |
